Preparedness Planning for Business

Businesses today face a wide range of potential hazards that can disrupt operations and impact employees, customers, and the community. These include natural hazards such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes; health hazards like widespread illness or pandemics; human-caused hazards such as workplace accidents, acts of violence, or terrorism; and technology-related hazards, including power outages, system failures, or cyber incidents.

This page provides tools and resources to help businesses develop a comprehensive preparedness program that addresses the impact of multiple hazards. Using an “all-hazards” approach, these resources are aligned with the NNational Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1600 – Standard on Disaster/Emergency Management and Business Continuity Programs, an American National Standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
